To meet the need for faster responses and lower costs SCC has invested in the CAD system and expert operating personnel.
SCC can liaise with clients on casting design and development by electronic interaction, significantly speeding up casting design at the concept stage.
SCC now designs and controls patterns and coreboxes to be produced by CNC or Rapid Prototyping methods without the necessity for hard copy drawings, thereby reducing sample or prototype lead-times.
Simulation
Reducing the number of unknowns
Computer aided mould filling and casting solidification simulation, together with metallurgical predictions and casting stress analysis are available where appropriate.
We are now able to assess casting designs by applying mould fill and casting solidification simulations and offering assistance in the optimisation of casting designs.
Further, where component weights are critical, predictions can be given for residual stressing, the structure, strength and hardness of the material, at any given position on a section of the casting.
Thus the designer is able to work more closely to actual material specification data reducing the number of unknowns in the design equation.
All of this is now achievable before drawing/design release.
